    Who
My name's Anita Wirawan and I love stories :).

I read/watch a lot of stories and like to share the most interesting and unusual ones here to see what everyone else thinks about them.

    Why
I had originally started this blog as a way to get things together after my brother Jody died back in 2008, but it's turned into a lot more than that.

I hope you'll find the stories that you need here.

    What Next
Feel free to look around the blog and add your own thoughts or stories, I'd love to hear 'em.

A Nightmare (Hint Memoir)

I woke up abruptly and lay in bed terrified to make a move, in case something of the dream had spilled over into reality.

I have a question? Does not happen to you that sometimes you wake up abruptly because in dreams you were falling down into an abism? or a huge fall or something, so you feel a strech in your leg that makes you wake up. What does it mean?

      Hi Nairim,

Yeah I get that too sometimes, it’s scary as hell to wake up like that! I looked it up and turns out that it’s called ‘hypnic jerk’ (weird name huh).

One reason for the feeling of falling is:

When your body enters into sleep, it undergoes changes in breathing, temperature and muscle relaxation. Muscle relaxing may cause hypnic jerk. Your brain interprets all the signs of relaxation as a sign that you are falling and signs your limbs to wake up. Therefore jerking occurs. This is likely to happen for some people because they experience a sensation or visions of falling as they drift into sleep.

And an eerie thing is that it’s apparently similar to the dying process:

Body reacts to falling asleep much in the same way that a body may twitch when dying. Hypnic jerk is a reflex used to keep the body functioning. Your brain registers falling asleep as a situation in which body needs to be stimulated.

There’s more about it at this website:
