    Who
My name's Anita Wirawan and I love stories :).

I read/watch a lot of stories and like to share the most interesting and unusual ones here to see what everyone else thinks about them.

    Why
I had originally started this blog as a way to get things together after my brother Jody died back in 2008, but it's turned into a lot more than that.

I hope you'll find the stories that you need here.

    What Next
Feel free to look around the blog and add your own thoughts or stories, I'd love to hear 'em.

Reading While Driving At 75 MPH

Reading and driving, I didn’t realize that people did it until a couple years ago when we pulled up next to a guy doing just that here in Anchorage.

He was reading a paperback novel and was totally oblivious to the road except for periodic glances up during which he’d jerkily adjust the steering wheel.

I remember thinking ‘Holy shit, this can’t be real!’ but apparently it’s quite normal for some people.

Here’s a video of a guy in California going 75 miles per hour while reading and highlighting a book.

The lady in the video says it’s a novel but it looks more like a text book to me. Either way he’s putting the lives of everybody around him in jeopardy just to read a couple of pages on his way to wherever he’s going:

This kind of dangerous habit has even come into the digital age as people are now being caught reading Kindles while driving.

A driver for a public bus in Oregon was filmed driving (if you can call it that) down an interstate with his elbow on the wheel and engrossed in whatever was on his Kindle.

When he finally realized someone might be filming him he told the passenger that she couldn’t do that because ‘filming on a moving bus is illegal.’

Lol! Yes of course because being a passenger and filming on a moving bus is illegal but endangering people by driving the bus while reading isn’t.

As you can imagine, he got numerous complaints from alarmed passengers and was investigated and eventually fired.

So next time you’re out on the road look around, you never know, the person driving the car next to you could be busily catching up on the latest New York Times bestseller.
