I recently came across a video about an interesting guy named David Goggins. The video was made with the intent to pull in new recruits for the Navy by showcasing the very unusual story of his day to day life.
What makes his life so unusual? Here’s a bit about his average day:
*Wake up at 3am, run 10-15 miles.
*Bike 25 miles to work.
*At lunchtime run 5-8 miles.
*After work ride home 25 miles.
*Sometimes after arriving home do a 3-5 mile run.
Goggins is a Navy SEAL but ‘on the side’ he also is compelled to train to do all kinds of competitions which range from ultramarathons to things like some crazy race where you run for 48 hours non-stop while going in circles on a one mile track. I mean holy crap who thought of that idea? Some sadistic person I’m sure lol.
To say that Goggins is driven I think would be an understatement, he’s definitely a guy whose life is defined by pushing the limits.
There’s also a strong a spiritual element to all his striving, a kind of searching for something within himself. In the video he says that he does all his training and competitions ‘to test my soul, to see what I’m about’. That sounds pretty cool, though I do worry that he might be overdoing it just a tad.
