Ghost Children Of The Train Tracks: A Spooky Urban Legend

Picture of children getting on bus in the haunted train tracks story. There’s a set of train tracks in San Antonio, Texas that’s known for having long lines of cars in front of it, especially after dark and around Halloween time.

People will simply drive their cars up to the tracks then sit there and wait for the car to be pushed across to the other side of the tracks.

The problem has gotten so bad that police patrol the area whenever they can and give out tickets hoping to deter people from doing this. But the patrols haven’t stopped the problem and each year more people from all over make the pilgrimage to the train tracks.

So why do people do this and who exactly are they expecting to push their cars across the tracks? Well it all has to do with a famous urban legend

Old black and white picture of haunted train tracks in San Antonio, Texas. The story goes that in the 50’s a school bus full of children were being transported home when the rickety old bus stalled on the train tracks.

The bus driver was used to this problem and did the complicated maneuver to get it started again, just like he’d done a thousand times before. Except this time it didn’t work and the bus just sat there. He kept turning the key as hard as he could and pumping the gas pedal, but it just wouldn’t start up again.

The bus driver sat there scratching his head and trying to think of what he could do to get the old junker going when he was startled by a sudden loud blaring noise followed by a long screech of metal on metal. It was a train coming down the tracks right towards them! The train was trying to stop but judging by the frantic blaring of the horn over and over again it didn’t seem like whoever was controlling it thought they could get it stopped in time.

The bus driver immediately started rushing children to the front of the bus where the door was but it was too late, moments later the train collided with the bus and it was demolished in an instant, killing everyone on board. But that wasn’t the end of the story.

Picture of the haunted railroad tracks in San Antonio, Texas where the bus accident took place. The urban legend says that not too long after the tragedy people in the area started to notice something strange happening at the site of the accident: if you put your car in neutral on or around the train tracks then the car would mysteriously be pushed across the tracks and to a safe spot on the other side.

Word started to get around and many people suspected there had to be a link between the strange activity and the school bus accident. Nobody could be 100% sure though until one night someone brought baby powder with them to the train tracks.

The person sprinkled the baby powder on the back bumper of their car and waited to be pushed across. Then afterwards they jumped out of their car and raced to look at the bumper and to their astonishment there in the baby powder were many small hand prints. The ghosts of the children were the ones that were pushing the cars across the train tracks to safety on the other side, so that no one would ever be hurt on the tracks again.Picture of ghost hand prints in baby powder to illustrate the haunted train tracks story.

Well as you can imagine the ghost hand prints in the baby powder added a whole new element to the story and a lot of people wanted to experience it for themselves. This has lead to the situation today where people come from all over to sit at the train tracks with baby powder on their car, hoping to make contact with the paranormal.

I’ve heard variations of this ‘ghosts pushing cars across the tracks’ urban legend from all over the country, but the one in San Antonio, Texas is by far the most famous. The ghost tracks of San Antonio is so famous it’s been featured on several tv shows and even has it’s own Yelp review page, where people can leave ratings of their experience and stories of visiting the tracks.

Not everybody can make it there though, so if you want to visit the haunted San Antonio train tracks but live too far away don’t despair, you can seek out your own spooky experience closer to home.

All you have to do is find some haunted spot in your town, sprinkle some baby powder in the right spots, and wait a while to see what kind of prints turn up. Who knows, you might even end up as part of an urban legend someday…

The Angry Ghost In Room 113: Be Careful What You Look For

Here’s a scary story that I first heard a while ago from Jennifer. Scary picture of an eye looking horrified and the backdrop of a spooky hotel. It’s about how one man found out that you should be careful what you look for, because you just might find it…

A man was driving one night and got caught in a snowstorm so bad that he couldn’t even think about driving another mile.

He saw a hotel sign off to his left and immediately turned into the small parking lot. ‘How lucky!’ he thought to himself while grabbing his suitcase out of the trunk and walking up to the hotel, but immediately after opening the front door his heart sank a little.

Scary picture of a haunted hotel to illustrate this scary story. It was a dingy old place that smelled of ancient dust and had wallpaper that was curling up at the edges. And everything looked a bit…slanted.

To make things worse, the lady at the front desk looked like she hadn’t smiled since the hotel was first built.

“No vacancies,” she said coldly as he walked up to the counter.

The man begged and pleaded with her but she was adamant, no vacancies, not even a broom closet. So he changed tactics and insisted that he was going to keep bothering her until she gave him a place to stay for the night.

After quite a while of arguing with him the lady gave in. “Okay,” she said, There’s a room in a part of the hotel we don’t usually rent out. You can stay there tonight but only if you promise me one thing: Near your room there will be a door with the number 113 on it, no matter what happens do not in any way disturb it or try to open the door.”

The man cheerfully agreed and snapped up the rusty key before the lady had a chance to change her mind.

ROOM 113

A tv with scary haunted looking tv static, if you look closely you can see an eye in the static.Thing was, when the man got settled into his room he became extremely bored. The old tv didn’t get any channels, just static, and there was no cell service no matter where he stood in the room.

He lay on the bed listening to the tv static and thought he might die of boredom.

‘I’ll just go get some ice and…look around’, he thought to himself. But he knew what he really wanted to see, and after getting some ice from the rickety ice machine on the 1st floor he found himself back upstairs in the dark hallway and lingering near the door marked 113.

The door was very worn and had some unusual looking gashes on it, but otherwise didn’t seem different than the door to his own room. What could be so great about this room that it would be forbidden?

Or maybe the lady at the font desk was just playing a trick on him. Well there was only one way to be sure, he’d have to look and see for himself. So he walked quietly up to the door handle. He put his hand on it and was about to turn it when he heard …mumbling.

It was an eerie low mumbling, almost a whisper, and it seemed to echo around him in a very unnatural way.

Picture of an old fashioned keyhole to illustrate this scary story about a haunted hotel room. The man’s heart started beating really fast, well it was pretty scary after all, but despite that his mind was more curious than ever. He leaned down to the old fashioned keyhole and looked in, hoping to get some clue to help solve the mystery.

But what he saw through the keyhole was even more mysterious than the mumbling.

Inside the room was a woman with long stringy hair that was so blond it looked white. She had her back turned to the door and was just standing there right next to the window, with her pale arms hanging by her side and mumbling to herself.

The man was transfixed, was the woman insane or what? And what was she mumbling to herself about? Not taking his gaze off the keyhole he leaned in and pressed his ear closer to the door to try and hear better, but suddenly the mumbling died away.

There was a moment of silence, and then the woman raised her hands to the sides of her face and let out a horrifying soul piercing scream! The bucket of ice dropped from his hands with a loud crash, but the screaming didn’t even waiver. It just kept going on and on. Terrified, he ran to his room, shutting the door firmly behind him and locking all the extra locks.

And just like that, the screaming stopped.

It took a long time for the man to get to sleep but he finally did, and the next morning while packing his suitcase he laughed about how scared he’d been the night before.

Picture of an old fashioned luggage in a haunted hotel room.On his way out he couldn’t help but to stop at the door of room 113 again.

There was no mumbling this time, in fact it was eerily quiet. He leaned down and looked through the keyhole, ‘Just real fast,’ he thought to himself, ‘then I’ll go.’

But through the keyhole he saw only solid red. Obviously the woman had outsmarted him and put something red over the keyhole to keep him from looking in.

“Bah! Stupid, crazy woman.” he said feeling very sour. He got up and kicked the ice bucket out of the way, making it bounce loudly off the door as he passed it.

When he got downstairs he insisted the frowning lady at the front desk tell him about what was really happening with room 113.

“You fool,” she snapped, “You disturbed the room didn’t you? There was a woman who was murdered in that room many years ago and she’s stayed there ever since, looking for the one that killed her so that she can take her revenge.”

Picture of the woman's red eye from the red eye scary ghost story. The man didn’t believe her and just laughed, “Okay fine, you don’t have to tell me the real story if you don’t want,” and he went to pick up his suitcase.

“I wouldn’t laugh if I were you,” said the lady, She gets very angry. You wouldn’t be the first person to fall victim to the woman with the pale skin and red eyes.”

Red eyes. At those words the man felt ice go through his veins. He realized with horror that what he had really seen when looking in the keyhole that morning. It was the red eye of the angry ghost and she had been looking right at him!

Even worse, he had insulted her and kicked the ice bucket right at the door.

Picture of the face of the ghost woman from the red eye scary ghost story. He didn’t say anything else, just ran out of the hotel into the drifting snow and didn’t look back. But if he had looked back he would have seen in a dark window high above, two angry red eyes peering out onto the sidewalk.

This story is a good reminder to be careful when looking into mysterious things, because you might be inviting something mysterious to look at you instead. And who knows what will happen once you get it’s attention.

As for what happened to the man well he never made it to his car, all they found of him was his suitcase in the snow, spilled open. There were many strange footprints around it but they lead nowhere.

The police closed the case, saying officially that he must have been so afraid that he went into hiding. They said he might never be seen again. But the people who worked at the hotel knew what really happened, yes he would be seen again…but only by the angry ghost with the red eyes.
