The Burning Of Harry Potter Books

Harry Potter book being burned by Trump supportersSo apparently people are now burning Harry Potter books because JK Rowling spoke against Donald Trump…

I guess these same people read the Harry Potter books yet somehow managed to miss *all* the major lessons of the storyline.

Not only are they burning the books but they are tweeting at JK Rowling about burning them, trying to punish her for speaking against Trump.

But she’s having none of it:

Ha, you go girl.

Then again JK Rowling used to work for Amnesty International, where she met many people from countries where free speech was a criminal act. People who had simply said something a politician didn’t like and their entire families were murdered in retaliation.

And to anyone out there thinking about burning Harry Potter books, why don’t you first read the books and pay attention this time? Or at the very least think to yourself, do you really want to be a part of that kind of thing? Just sayin!

Life As She Described: Shoutout This Week To The Ikarians

JK Rowling How She Wrote Harry PotterThe shoutout this week is to The Ikarians. She posted me a comment on the story of how J.K. Rowling struggled to write Harry Potter:

I’m Reading this Post again today and have to tell WOW!!! It made my day! In many ways I feel my life as she described without having exactly the life she has when a kid, but this story talks to me in a different level so personal. Once again Thank you Anita For posting this!

Thanks The Ikarians, I’m glad you still enjoy the story! I have a lot of admiration for J.K. Rowling, not only for what she overcame to become successful …but also for sharing the stories of what she went through.

A lot of celebrities prefer to gloss over the darker parts of their past, but J.K. Rowling chooses time and again to share the truth of her experiences so that others can be helped. When people see their own experiences in “life as she described” they know that they’re not alone, and that the darkest times don’t have to last forever.

Babbity Rabbity And Her Cackling Stump?

Story of Babbity Rabbity Cackling StumpMum used to read those to me as a kid!

The Wizard And The Hopping Pot, Babbity Rabbity And Her Cackling Stump… Come on! Babitty Rabbity… No?
–Ron Weasley

In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Ron sees the book ‘Tales Of Beedle The Bard’ and starts naming off all the fairy tales his mother used to read to him as a kid.

But since he grew up in the world of magic the stories are nothing like most people have heard of, and Harry and Hermione look at him like he’s gone crazy.

And with titles like Babbity Rabbity And Her Cackling Stump it’s hard not to wonder if the stories are a bit crazy themselves.

Tales Of Beedle The Bard Book by JK RowlingTurns out that JK Rowling had originally come up with those titles because they sounded silly and a little crazy, thinking that they would be the perfect titles for wizard fairy tales. What she didn’t realize at the time is that she’d end up writing those stories later on for people in the muggle world. Rich muggles, to be exact.

In 2007 she wrote the stories and auctioned off a handmade copy of Tales Of Beedle The Bard to help a children’s charity. The book ended up raising a whopping 4 million dollars! Maybe Babbity Rabbity doesn’t sound so crazy after all.

Luckily for the rest of us Tales Of Beedle The Bard was released to the public a year later, and at a price that was almost 4 million dollars cheaper ;).
