Does Caillou Have Cancer? True Story And Urban Legend Behind Caillou

Picture of Caillou from the cartoon to illustrate this true story and urban legend about Caillou having cancer. There’s a funny thing about Caillou (the bald-headed little boy that is the main character of the Caillou cartoon) kids love him and parents …well let’s face it, parents usually hate him. But one thing both parents and kids can agree on is wondering: why the heck is Caillou bald?

Longtime blog reader Jazzlenne requested a story on the topic of Caillou and since we’re doing a lot of urban legends this week I figured we’d look into the biggest urban legend surrounding the show, which centers around the mystery of why Caillou is bald.

His parents and sister all noticeably have lots of fluffy hair, yet he doesn’t seem to have a single hair on his own head. This has lead to widespread urban legends that there’s a hidden story to the show and that Caillou is bald because he has cancer. There are even many parents that won’t let their kids watch Caillou because they don’t want them watching a show about a kid with cancer.

But what is the hidden story, and is there actually any truth to it?

The most popular Caillou urban legend tells the story of a boy named Caillou who has cancer and is going through treatments that have made him bald.

Even though he’s young, Caillou is aware of his condition and tries to cope with the situation by using one of the strongest tools a child has: his imagination. You see, he’s not sure if he’ll be able to actually grow up so he uses his imagination to go on adventures and experience all the different things he could be.

Some very dark versions of the Caillou urban legend say he’s already died, and that’s why the grandmother is the one telling stories about his life. She tells the stories to keep the memory of her grandson alive.

No matter which version of the Caillou urban legend you hear though it always centers on him having cancer.

The people involved with the show and the book are very insistent that no, Caillou doesn’t have cancer. In fact reading through their writings about it they seem downright defensive about the topic, often making it the first thing they mention about the show.

They say the reason Caillou is bald is because in the books he was at the age when kids don’t have hair yet, and when they made the cartoon they wanted him to look the same as in the books –right down to the very bald head. But they had no idea what a huge controversy that decision would start up amongst both parents and kids.

Sometimes the story is changed and people from the show will say that Caillou is bald to “represent all kids”. That explanation sounds pretty forced and more like the show is trying to put a positive spin on the Caillou baldness controversy that has caused many parents to ban their kids from watching Caillou.

It’s kind of like I hope no parents out there would keep their kids from playing with another child simply because the other child had cancer.

Around the world a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes, and even though it’s an urban legend, ‘Caillou with cancer’ represents the plight of many kids out there. Who knows, some kids with cancer might even look up to Caillou and find comfort in the show, never realizing that the idea of Caillou having cancer is such a controversial thing…

Phineas And Ferb: The True Story And Dark Theory Behind The Show

Picture of Phineas And Ferb from the show to illustrate the theory. The Phineas And Ferb Theory…

Kailey J. was the first to ask about it a while back and since then I’ve gotten a lot of requests to look into things and see if there’s any truth to it.

Turns out that yes there is a true story behind Phineas And Ferb. It may or may not surprise you, see for yourself…

So Phineas And Ferb is a cartoon that features two boys on summer vacation who make amazing inventions in their backyard, like roller coasters that go into outer space and giant robots.

Phineas is a confident genius and Ferb is a quiet but also brilliant kid. Their sister Candace is always trying to get the boys in trouble with their mother for all the outrageous inventions they build. But their mother can never quite seem to see the inventions, eternally frustrating Candace.Picture of Phineas And Ferb with their sister Candace mad in the background to illustrate the story.

However, The Phineas And Ferb Theory says that there’s another side to the show and it’s very dark.

The Phineas And Ferb Theory says that (like Angelica in The Rugrats Theory) the real Candace has lost her mind due to bad things happening in her life.

The theory says that Phineas was her little brother and he was bullied a lot in school because the other kids thought he was too nerdy. One day a bully punched Phineas in the head really hard and it killed him.

That day changed Candace forever.

Candace couldn’t deal with Phineas’ death so she built an imaginary world where he was still alive and playing with her other brother Ferb. Ferb has a disability and can’t talk or do much, but she imagines him and Phineas going on great adventures together.

The real reason why her mother can’t see the things that Phineas and Ferb build is that, well, they simply aren’t there. And the more Candace tries to convince her mother the more crazy she becomes.

The villain of the show Dr. Doofenshmirtz is actually Candace’s psychologist who she’s been seeing twice a week. It started to put a strain on the family to try and pay for all these expensive doctor visits though. In desperation her mother had an idea to write down all the fantastical stories Candace was telling her and try to sell it to Disney as a show, and it worked.

So that’s The Phineas And Ferb Theory, but is any of it true?

The true story of Phineas And Ferb actually does come from a real person who built imaginary worlds, a boy named Dan Povenmire.

As a child Dan Povenmire was an artistic prodigy that was obsessed with drawing cartoons. His mother recognized his creative abilities and always told him to “never waste a day of summer”. He took this advice to heart and spent his summers inventing elaborate creations for the different stories he was imagining.

Picture of Phineas, Ferb, and Candace with the Lochness Monster for this story. He never lost his mind in his imaginary world like Candace in theory story though, because it came from positive experiences. So later on when he created Phineas and Ferb with a friend, they both agreed that the show would focus on the positive.

Phineas and Ferb make inventions for the pure fun of it or to bring happiness to others, and in this way find great adventures in each day of summer, despite their sister Candace’s attempts to foil their plans.

And as for Candace well she’s based on a real person too, Dan Povenmire’s sister. As a kid she was always telling on him to try and get him in big trouble… sounds familiar doesn’t it? :D
